I.A.L.T upload my artwork task onto my blog
Last week our class was working on an inquiry task. That task was to create a space artwork, and we were allowed to do any design we want, as long as it's not too detailed or it would be hard to colour with oil pastels.
The first step in creating this art is to sketch or draw the design on an A3 paper. Mine was an astronaut landing on the moon with his doggy pal. I drew Earth, a flying saucer over a planet and a shooting star in the backspace so there wasn't so much empty space. After drawing that you could either go paint the background or colour the design in with oil pastel. I was one of the first chosen to do the background, so I went and painted. To do the background you just need to get a variety of paint in different colours, a sponge and (optional) a paintbrush. I thought it would be a good idea to start with black, but it wasn't. I had to use a lot of blue to cover up most of the bold blotches. I recommend starting with blue, but you don't have to. Anyways, all you need to do is use one sponge for one colour and keep sponging the colours onto an A3 paper. You can also get the paintbrush and flick white paint over the colours so that they look like stars. Once that's done, finish colouring or drawing your design and when that's done, and the space background is dry, just cut out the design pieces and glue them onto the background. Now your done!

My art is about a man who puts a flag on the moon, but because I love dogs, I made the flag support dogs. You probably can't see it, but the flag has a dog and the word DOGS on it. The astronaut also has an astro-dog friend, and the brown-ish planet is having an alien abduction. I also included Earth in the top left corner, because it is where I live.
I really enjoyed doing this artwork because I love art and what made it better is that I could do anything for the design, so this was a really fun task. I think I did well with blending the colours of the planets and the star in the background, but I could improve on the moon. My favourite part of making this was drawing the designs and painting the background because it was fun.
