Three Days in Huia

24/11/20

Last week, the year 5's and 6's from my class went to camp at Aroha Island. Me and Eric went into the class above for three days instead, while they were gone. For the first day, we just had to get into groups with Huia and visit the Pak'n'Save online shopping site to get an idea about how many of each product we will need for our camp and the price. We continued with that for the second day too, but on Friday we had Mr Metzger as our teacher and we did some math tasks, then we had to get into buddies to make a 3D or 2D food web showing which sea creatures eat what, and we need to include different types of eaters, like grazers and other things.
I enjoyed making the 3D food web because it was funny to put the printed dolphins on the cardboard box because they looked really weird, sort of crazy.

Maitai Bay Brochure

 04/11/20

I.A.L.T create a brochure and upload it to my blog

Last week our class created a poster on Google Drawings about Maitai Bay. In our poster we had to include what it is, where it is, what types of fish live there, and information about the rāhui. We could have worked in buddies or alone. I was with Sofia. When we were done our brochure, we printed them out and folded them along the lines into three sections to create a brochure shape.

Below is my (and Sofia's) Maitai Bay poster:

While making this poster I learn that you can launch your boat here.

I found formatting and shifting the writing and pictures to the right size and position quite challenging.

I could have improved this brochure by adding more detail and facts.

Have you been to Maitai Bay before? Have you ever seen a goatfish before?
