Today for our writing task we have to upload our summary and a review of the book we have been reading for the past few days, Cancel the Invasion. Below is my Cancel the Invasion review and summary.

I really enjoyed this book because it has a good story, and it is somehow the most interesting story I have read from a school journal, for me. My favourite part of the story is where Ash thought the young children were vampires and where the old man turned into a hawk and flew away. Maybe the old man at the end of the story was the leader, or some apprentice or something. Maybe he was just someone important to the alien people. In the story Ash thought about this: 'There was a dry tone in his voice that Ash had heard before. Leaders used it when speaking to very stupid underlings.' LEADERS. The old man also turned into a hawk, so that helps my idea. Anyways, I think the only thing the author could do to improve the text is...there's not much that could be done, but maybe he could have added Ash talking in his own language? Or something alien-y. The author did mention Ash having double knees and a titanium head. This is a very good story.

Summary:

Cancel The Invasion ~ By David Larsen

This story is set in two different parts of a park, and it includes Ash the otherworldly alien sent on a scout mission, three young human children and a mysterious old man that is probably another alien. 

Ash was trying to write a report on planet Earth when a cricket ball hits his head. The kid who hit the ball rushed up and was really worried. “I’m so sorry, I’m sorry, are you ok?” Lots of curious and cautious thoughts ran through Ash’s head, but he didn’t say them. They had trouble communicating because Ash wasn’t good at human language, but he tried explaining that he has to go. Ash soon went to a quieter place by the other side of the park, on a bench underneath the warm shade of a cluster of trees. He continues writing his report to his leader, but an old man comes along. He talks to Ash in a mysterious knowing way, and Ash tries to understand. When they were done their minute talk, the unknown old man swiftly turns into a great hawk and flies away, and Ash sends the message.
